[App Update] Pixelmug Android 1.0.4 Release Notes: Automated Media Downscaling & Japanese Localization

Pixelmug Android App version 1.0.4 update cover featuring auto-resize for GIFs and images, and Japanese language support.

On March 9th, we rolled out the Pixelmug Android V1.0.4 update. Over the past week, it has been incredible to see the creative, high-resolution internet memes and artwork you have been pushing to your mugs.

For those who haven't updated yet (or were wondering what changed under the hood), here is a technical breakdown of how we completely overhauled our media processing pipeline in this release.

⚙️ Smart Downscaling & Adaptation for Images and GIFs

Since the launch of Pixelmug, one of the most common pieces of feedback we’ve received was regarding the strict 32x16 resolution requirement for uploads. Previously, users had to manually resize and compress their assets using third-party software before they could be displayed on the mug's LED matrix.

With V1.0.4, we introduced an Automated Asset Processing Engine within the app to remove this friction. Whether you are uploading a high-resolution static image (JPG/PNG) or a complex animated GIF from the internet, the app now handles the conversion entirely in the background:

· Resolution Adaptation: The app dynamically calculates the aspect ratio and automatically downscales your uploaded media to perfectly fit the 32x16 pixel grid, preserving as much detail and contrast as possible for the hardware display.

· Intelligent Compression: Handling web-sized GIFs on micro-displays is traditionally tricky due to file size and frame rate constraints. Our new protocol automatically compresses the file and optimizes the frames to ensure smooth, stable playback directly on the mug.

The Result: Effortless Personalization. You are no longer constrained by hardware limits. Whether it's your favorite personal photos, intricate digital art, or viral internet memes trending online, you can upload them directly into the app—even if the original files are drastically larger than 32x16. The software handles all the heavy lifting, allowing you to easily customize your exclusive Pixelmug and bring your favorite internet moments to your desktop in seconds.

🌐 i18n: Japanese Language Support

To better support our growing international user base, we are expanding our localization efforts. V1.0.4 introduces full Japanese (日本語) language support across the app interface. If your device system language is set to Japanese, the app will automatically adapt, providing a native, localized experience.
