How to operate the Pixelmug through the touch area

Switch function: Click the touch area
Exit/enter this function: Long press the touch area

PS: Some initial versions of the manual showed a double-click action, which has been replaced by a long press.

Why do the lights look a bit blurry or glowing?

The slight glow around the lights is completely normal. Since the pixel display is set beneath a thin ceramic layer, the light naturally diffuses through the material, creating PixelMug’s signature soft ambiance.

In the app the Wi-Fi list is empty and says failed to get Wi-Fi list.

We've confirmed with our software engineer that this is caused by a recent update to both the mug and the app.

Please manually enter your Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password to connect.

A fix is on the way in the next version.

Some features seem to be missing in my app. Why?

If you purchased the Kickstarter limited version without AI features, AI-related functions will not be available.

Additionally, during app updates, there may be temporary differences between the iOS and Android versions due to store review timelines. This can cause feature discrepancies, which usually resolve within a few days once the new versions are approved.

Why is the cup capacity smaller than expected?

We've received many questions about the capacity of PixelMug. Our premium porcelain mug are meticulously handcrafted using a rare double-layer ceramic technique. To achieve this, the cup body must maintain exceptional strength to withstand firing at an intense 2000°C without warping. At the same time, we need to ensure a translucent, refined finish to deliver a flawless LED display effect.

Given these challenges, the mug mold is designed significantly larger, yet we’ve achieved an outstanding final result. Therefore, please understand that the chosen capacity is a carefully balanced decision—taking into account display performance, strength and durability, comfortable single-handed grip, and the complexities of the production process.

Can I wash it with water, including the screen and control area?

Yes, the PixelMug is as smart as it is tough, featuring full IPX7 waterproof certification. Feel free to hand-wash it with confidence—it's built to withstand daily use and regular rinsing with ease.

Can l put PixelMug in the dishwasher or microwave?

Great question! The PixelMug is designed with durability in mind, featuring an IPX7 waterproof rating and a premium porcelain body that ensures long-lasting performance. While it’s built to handle daily use and regular washing with ease, we always recommend handwashing to maintain its smart technology at peak performance.

Like all battery-powered devices, prolonged exposure to extreme heat—such as the high-temperature drying cycle in some dishwashers—may impact long-term performance. While our rigorous testing under high-temperature and humidity conditions has shown that PixelMug holds up well, we are also actively exploring specialized testing facilities. However, as of now, no existing dishwasher-safe certification applies to battery-powered devices, and no professional labs currently offer relevant testing for such products.

For best results, a quick rinse or gentle hand wash will keep your PixelMug looking and performing at its best! ✨

Also, if anyone knows of a battery-powered device that is certified safe for dishwasher use, we’d greatly appreciate it if you could share! Our engineering team would love to explore and research it right away.

Can I create pixel art using other devices or software and then import it?

Of course, you can even import a real photo, and our app will automatically convert it to a pixel map. Or just give this work to the AI

Does the PixelMug become just a regular mug after the battery reaches the end of itslifespan?

PixelMug will NOT become a regular mug after some time—it won’t suddenly stop working when the battery ages.
Like other devices that use rechargeable batteries, the battery capacity will gradually decline over time with repeated charging—just like your phone. But it will still continue to function.
From my own experience, I have an electric shaver that’s been working for 18 years—it just needs to be charged more often, but it still works perfectly well.
So yes, over time the battery may hold less charge, but PixelMug will remain fully usable.
